Launch of ‘Ardbeg Spectacular’, the First Whisky Matured in Port Casks

The first Ardbeg matured in Port Casks, unveiled for Ardbeg Day 2024. The ultimate Islay malt whisky, Ardbeg (ARDBEG), unveils a limited edition for Ardbeg Day 2024.

Ardbeg Day, held on the last Saturday of the Islay Music & Malt Festival on Fèis Ìle every year, is a global event celebrating all things Ardbeg.

This year, on Saturday, June 1st, Ardbeg Distillery and locations worldwide will be hosting exciting festivals, celebrating Ardbeg Day with Ardbeg Spectacular, the result of Ardbeg's most unique experiment yet. This avant-garde limited edition, the first Ardbeg matured entirely in Port casks, showcases a remarkable flavour profile never before experienced at Ardbeg.

Matured entirely in Port barrels, this whisky transcends the traditional Ardbeg bourbon maturation, bringing a dynamic richness and impressive colour variation to the Islay malt.

Dark chocolate flavours somersault, mint teeters precariously on a tightrope, while candied fruit, beeswax, and toasted pecans perform aerial acrobatics.

Inspired by the surprising depth and richness of flavour in Ardbeg Spectacular, a whisky that delivers a sense of wonder like a circus performance, this Ardbeg Day invites Ardbeg fans into a "Dark Circus."

For one day only, at the distillery and local events worldwide, whisky fans can immerse themselves in the smoky and eccentric Ardbeg experience reminiscent of a circus through exciting tastings, unique games, and the rich pleasures of peat.

Ardbeg's Master Blender, Gillian Macdonald, says, "Ardbeg Spectacular is truly an adventurous whisky befitting Ardbeg Day. The maturation in both bourbon and Port casks has created an amazing flavour profile, a new taste never before experienced by Ardbeg lovers. Ardbeg Day in Korea will be held on June 15th this year for the second time, and tickets for Ardbeg Spectacular and Ardbeg Day 2024 will be available for purchase through Daily Shot starting at 4pm on June 7th.
