Hyungji Fashion Group (www.hyungji.co.kr) Chairman Choi Byung-oh has been selected for 13 consecutive years in the '100 Great CEOs of Korea' announced annually by Maeil Business Newspaper.
Maeil Business Newspaper recommended Hyungji Fashion Group Chairman Choi Byung-oh as a self-made CEO who built a leading national fashion company with sales exceeding 1 trillion won starting from scratch.
Chairman Choi started the clothing business in 1982 and launched 'Crocodile Lady' in 1996, pioneering the women's apparel blue ocean of 'women's adult casual wear'. After successfully establishing 'Shatren' and 'Olivia Hasler', he successively acquired heritage fashion brands such as 'Esquire', 'Yejak', 'Elite Student Uniforms', and 'Castelbajac'. Currently, he operates over 2,000 stores nationwide with 20 brands, earning him recognition for building a leading national fashion company.
In addition to Hyungji Fashion Group, Chairman Choi manages three listed companies: Hyungji I&C, Hyungji Elite, and Castelbajac, along with Hyungji Esquire and Artmalling.
In particular, he received the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the '37th Fiber Day' in November of last year in recognition of his business diversification and environmentally friendly/ESG management over 41 years. This award follows the Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in 2004 and the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in 2010, solidifying his position as a true leader in Korea's textile and fashion industry.
In August of last year, he was appointed as the chairman of the Korea Textile Industry Federation, actively contributing to the revival and development of the domestic textile and fashion industry.
His active efforts, such as the 'Caravan Team' activities that involve visiting textile industry sites nationwide to listen to their difficulties, the founding of the Sustainable Circular Economy Forum, and support for the dissemination of AI technology through a business agreement with Naver Cloud, have also been highly regarded.
Hyungji Fashion Group concluded the era of its headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul in 2022 and relocated to a new headquarters in Songdo International City, Incheon, strengthening its global capabilities and establishing it as a research and development hub. Chairman Choi expressed his ambition to achieve the vision of 'Global Hyungji', transcending its status as a national representative of fashion.
